I made a couple of these little bookmarks today for James and Bella. They are quick (all up from cutting and sewing it took me about 20-30 minutes).
I reinforced the middle of the bookmark with some strong card, which keeps it nice and firm. The piece of cardboard measures - 18cm X 3.7cm.
Cut out X2 pieces of felt for the bookmark - 20cm X 6cm. Lightly adhere the cardboard onto the felt so that it doesn't move around when you are stitching everything together. I used double sided tape for this.
Right hand click on the template above and save to 'my documents'. Then print out on an A4 piece of paper and cut out. (Sorry I still don't know how to do a pdf file, but this should work nicely). This is actually the same template that I used for the Pencil Toppers. Use the template to cut out a little felt tree for the bookmark.
Machine or handstitch the tree into position towards the top of the bookmark.
Sandwich everything together and blanket stitch the bookmark closed. Another alternative is to machine stitch around the edge.
Krista - Here's a pic of some chocolate ripple biscuits. I'm sure any plain kind of chocolate biscuits that were suitable for crushing would work equally as well.
