Home made fruit leather is unbelievable good, so much healthier than store bought 'roll ups' that contain all sorts of extra additives. Apple fruit leather is the most popular in our house and I try and make it quite often in our dehydrator, but you can also make it very successfully in the oven too - on a very low heat.
Playing on my mind this last week was the lovely rope coil basket tutorial that I linked in my handmade gift post. Since I had a few metres of coil in my craft cupboard, I gave one a whirl on Saturday night and finished it off in the morning. Although my first attempt turned out pretty well, my coil was definitely too soft and wide for the look that I really wanted to achieve.
Giving handmade is such a good feeling, isn't it? Last year I was a bit slack (and time poor) and my Christmas gift giving was mainly bought goodies, but this year I want to try really hard and put together a few handmade gifts for Christmas. Of course, handmade gifts don't suit everybody in the world (and that's okay) so they'll be a few nice books, food related items and experiences (movie tickets, etc..) on my list too.
Earlier this week I received a gorgeous surprise package of goodies in the mail from Sammy & Lola. I've bought a few goodies myself from Maryanne's lovely online store over the last few months, but Maryanne completely spoilt me with the most delicious selection of gifts - letter writing paper, washi tape, stamps, pretty paper and so much more. So, I decided to create this week's tutorial using some of my new supplies.
Tasmanian weather can be just so unpredictable - a bit of sunshine one day and a blanket of snow the next. I kid you not.
A couple of weekends ago, we left home to drop James half way up Mount Wellington so he could ride down the mountain with some friends. Shorts and sunshine at our house, thermals required with snow at the mountain - just twenty minutes from home.
I live with my husband and 2 children in Tasmania, Australia. I love to make nice things, spend time with my family, travel, bake yummy treats, read pretty craft books, give handmade gifts, toast marshmallows in our wood fired oven & live a lovely life.
