Earlier this week I received a gorgeous surprise package of goodies in the mail from Sammy & Lola. I've bought a few goodies myself from Maryanne's lovely online store over the last few months, but Maryanne completely spoilt me with the most delicious selection of gifts - letter writing paper, washi tape, stamps, pretty paper and so much more. So, I decided to create this week's tutorial using some of my new supplies.
This project is a simple mini album made from envelopes. I made the envelopes myself using a template, but another option for you is to unfold an existing envelope and use it to trace around.
- Envelope template (or make your own with an existing envelope).
- A selection of patterned paper - I used paper from a wrapping paper book.
- Paper doilies - you can purchase these from supermarkets or corner stores.
- Washi tape
- Tags - buy or make your own.
- Twine, ribbon or yarn.
- Scissors, pencil, adhesive, hole punch.
Step 1: Select some patterned paper to create the envelopes with. Trace around your envelope template with pencil and cut out - repeat this until you have five envelopes. Of course you can do more if you wish, or less.
Step 2: Fold and adhere the sides of each envelope.
Step 3: Adhere a paper doily onto the front of the envelope, folding and adhering the back in position too - onto the reverse side of the envelope.
Step 4: Add a few strips of washi/decorative tape to the lower right portion of the envelope front. Adhere a small photograph onto the front of the album and add a small strip of washi/decorative tape to the left hand side of the photo.
Step 5: Tie a small piece of string (into a bow) on the top of a tag. The tag can be circular in shape, rectangular or any shape that takes your fancy.
Step 6: Adhere the tag onto the front of the mini album, in the lower right hand corner. Add a small title on the tag - mine reads: You at twelve. You can do this by writing or typing the text or you might like to use some letter stickers.
Step 7: Secure the envelopes together with some string on the sides - punch two holes in each envelope first.
Step 8: Add another title on the left hand side above the photograph. My second title reads: Our Bella.
Now you are ready to fill your mini album. You can add photographs or text and pop in extra journaling inside the envelopes. It's really just a fun little album that you can make easily in an afternoon or even over a nice cup of tea. You can keep it plain inside or make it as fancy as you like by adding embellishments. This would even be a nice project to do with some little people!
Thanks again to Maryanne for the lovely supplies! Happy creating everyone.
