As many of my readers would know, every Friday night at our house is 'family fun night' - a night comprising of a sweet treat for everybody and either a board game (or two) or a movie that we can all enjoy. Usually we stop at the shop on the way home from school to grab a chocolate, packet of chips or bag of lollies to share, but last week something popped into my head - why aren't I making these treats instead of buying them?

When we had our cookbook de-cluttering a few months ago, out of the small selection that I kept, were two confectionery style recipe books - The Women's Weekly 'Sweet' book and 'Sweet Treats' by Frankie magazine. We spent half an hour or so looking at all the recipes inside and then bookmarking the ones that we'd all enjoy - so, so many to choose from!
Yesterday I gave some honeycomb a whirl and it turned out beautifully, super impressed. Only, I ended up using this recipe that I found online, the cookbooks will have to wait until next week.
Other recipes that we've tabbed include peanut brittle, toffee, fudge, creamy caramels, nougat, peanut butter flowers and oh, so many more! I'm super looking forward to trying all of these over the next few months and hopefully we'll have some new favourite treats to make for family fun night - I'm sure they'll possibly be a few failures amongst all this cooking too.
