A few of my lovely readers have been asking me to share photos of my snail mail packages that I've been sending to my penfriends. I created this one (above) a couple of weeks ago and since it's safely arrived at it's destination, I thought I'd share what I sent.
I do love making these cardstock letter holders and they are super easy to do. It's just a piece of 12 " cardstock, with the bottom 1/3 sliced off it and then reattached to create a pocket. I machine stitch it together like a book and then add a zig-zag stitch on the sides of the pocket. Pop some fabric tape (or washi) along the pocket edge, a pretty paper doily on the front and you're pretty much ready to fill it with snail mail goodies.
I'm always keeping my eye out for flat objects that can be 'prettied' up to send - little envelopes, plain tags, stickers and washi tape are a few of my favourites. I also whipped up a fabric bookmark for this package (great for sending as they're flat) and a fabulous inexpensive gift to send to crafty friends are button tags - simply hand stitch some buttons onto a little tag.
Nice tea bags are also a favourite thing that I like to pop in my snail mail letters - providing the recipient likes tea, of course. Other great goodies to send (pop them in a cute mini envelope) are Project Life journaling cards, decorative stickers, teeny tiny paper doilies and one of my other favourite things to include is a recipe.
I might do a few more posts on snail mail goodies to send/create soon. It's really enjoyable to put together a fun package for my penfriends and a great way to fill in an evening at home!
As I said, the letter was super easy to create, but if anybody is stuck and would like a step-by-step tutorial on putting one together, just let me know.
