Over the years I've made quite a few mini albums out of paper bags, so I thought I'd adapt this idea into a quick Christmas notebook tutorial. I love these notebooks because you can pop them in your hand bag to write festive notes on, gift ideas, shopping lists and everything else in-between and they are super inexpensive to make! They're great for little people to use too and they're also fast to create, so whip up a batch for friends while you're at it.
Let's get started:
- paper bags
- lined paper
- needle + scissors
- fabric glue
- felt scraps
Step 1: Begin by folding the paper bag in half and then in half again, to 'quarter' the bag.
Step 2: Unfold the last crease that you created and use it as a scissor guide to cut the paper bag in half - refer to above step photo for this step.
Step 3: Cut a selection of lined papers down to size (23cm X 10cm) - I used 5 sheets, but you can include however many you like.
Step 4: Position the lined paper inside the paper bag, cut a length of string and use a needle to thread this through the paper and bag, as shown in the above step photo.
Step 5: Tie the string into a bow on the outside of the notebook.
Step 6: To decorate the notebook, fashion scraps of felt into Christmas trees or cut a selection of small triangles and layer to create a tree shape. Because this is such a quick project, I kept the front simple (fast!) as well, but you can let your imagination go a bit crazy on the front, if you'd like something a bit fancy. Adhere the festive shapes onto the notebook.
You're all done!
